As Chairman of the UIA, Dr William Kalema is a member of the Divestiture Reform and Implementation Committee (DRIC). He was instrumental in forming the Private Sector Foundation, an umbrella body of 42 business associations, and served as its Executive Director. Since 1998, he has been Board Chairman of the Development Finance Company of Uganda and of its related financial institutions. As a businessman, he is Managing Director of Simba Blankets Ltd. and a Director of Multichoice Uganda Limited. He is a board member of East African Breweries Ltd. From 1984-1991 he worked in several divisions of the Du Pont Company in Delaware, USA.
Dr. Kalema holds Master's and Bachelor's degrees in chemical engineering from Cambridge University and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the California Institute of Technology.
